Web Design: Frequently Asked Questions

Where do I start?

We understand that committing to a website project can be both daunting and confusing. A great place to start is to fill out the website contact form and we'll be happy to discuss with you your project goals as well as send you some information about our pricing.

How long will my website take?

The slowest part of pretty much every website we build is agreeing on the page content and text areas. It's easy for a website to get stalled at this point, so what we do is build a complete working site with placeholder text suggesting what kind of content may could go in each place. Additionally, our content management system allows our clients to add and edit content on their own greatly decreasing turnaround time on a website launch.

Should we hire a local designer?

If you feel more comfortable dealing with a local designer then you should go ahead and do that. However, with current technology such as desktop sharing and connectivity we can effectively communicate with any client anywhere where there's internet.

What is website maintenance?

Website maintenance is a monthly fee to keep regular database backups, manage your emails, provide traffic analysis reporting data, keep your hosting and domain name current, and make minor website updates.

What's Drupal and why do you use it?

Drupal is a web application called a Content Management System. Basically it's a way to add and organize your site's content plus integrate a lot of powerful web 2.0 features like blogs, shopping carts, newsfeeds, image galleries, etc. Read What the Heck is Drupal! to learn more.

Why can't I find my site in Google/Yahoo/Msn...!?

Your site's performance in the search engines is dependent on a multitude of factors such as your on-page content, page structure, links to your site, and the commercial niche your website is in. We build all our sites to be search engine friendly and we offer consulting throughout the whole process to help you create content that will drive and sustain website traffic. This is often enough for many sites to place well in their respective niches. But some industries on the web are very competitive and you may require a separate SEO Campaign and Pay-Per-Click marketing to see the results you're looking for. In that case we can recommend a great marketing firm to promote your new website.
